Dassault Aviation, makers of the Falcon line of business jets, announced their latest model today: the Falcon 8X. Dassault Aviation Chairman and CEO Eric Trappier had this to say about the new jet:
The Falcon 8X will be our new flagship and a great complement to our product line. It builds on Dassault expertise in aerodynamics, in precision design and manufacturing, and in advanced digital flight controls. It embodies the best of Falcons that have come before with the most capability of any Falcon ever.”

The three engine aircraft is planned to be able to carry 8 passengers and 3 crewmembers 6,450 nm non-stop thanks to improved engines and wing design (upgraded from the Falcon 7X). These changes will also allow the jet to be up to 35% more fuel efficient than other ultra-long range aircraft.

The first flight tests are expected early next year, with certification and deliveries before the end of 2016. We’re excited to see the new jet come into the private jet charter market to provide an efficient, brand-new alternative to the Gulfstream G450, G550, and Bombardier Global 5000.
