As part of the country’s reopening plan, there are certain limitations on transportation to the islands of the Bahamas. As the measures continue to be in effect and evolve, many people are wondering, “Can I still travel to the Bahamas?” Here are five things you need to know about flying to the Bahamas under the new guidelines.
Can I Still Travel to the Bahamas?
1. Bahamas Travel Ban: Can I Fly Commercial?
Initially, the travel ban barred all international commercial flights to the Bahamas, including those from the United States, with exemptions made for visitors from the United Kingdom, European Union and Canada, provided that they’ve tested negative for COVID-19. However, the country recently updated its advisory, this time with “no restrictions on commercial international travel from any jurisdiction, nor are there restrictions on private planes or boats.”
2. Can I Fly Privately?
Yes. Visitors can book a private jet charter to the Caribbean destination, as long as they meet certain guidelines.
Specifically, all guests must test negative from a PCR COVID-19 test that’s taken five days prior to departure. However, the testing requirement does not apply to passengers 10 years of age or younger.
Passengers must then complete the online Bahamian Travel Health Visa form. Upon arrival, each guest must have their negative COVID-19 test results and a copy of their visa in-hand, along with their passport. Another recent change to the guidelines includes a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen test on day five of a guest’s stay in the Bahamas. There’s also a cost to the Travel Health Visa, which covers health insurance for a passenger during their stay.
Additionally, Magellan Jets requires guests to complete a health declaration form. If you need help organizing your next trip to the island escape, Magellan Jets’ Private Aviation Consultants are happy to guide you through the booking process and all the testing requirements.

5. Luxurious Yacht Amenities And Safe Activities At Sea
Although the island getaway is mostly free to explore (provided you wear a mask in public and abide by local protocols), the safest way to experience hot spots like Grand Bahama, Paradise Island, Cat Island and the rest of this Caribbean paradise is by sea. As IYC notes, there are several ways to have a safe and luxurious time aboard a yacht. Specifically, yacht charter travelers can expect a plethora of water toys and activities available. These can include jet skis, inflatable slides and even glass bottomed kayaks, offering a peak at life under the sea.
Additionally, guests receive world class service from dedicated, hand-picked staff who will pamper you, as well as the ability to choose yachts equipped with gyms, saunas, outdoor movie theaters and other amenities. Of course, this level of service excellence extends to the cuisine. Each IYC yacht crew always includes a personal chef, who can craft bespoke menus featuring fresh, local ingredients to fit any dietary wants or needs.
