Bombardier Learjet 40XR

Bombardier’s stellar Learjet 40XR, produced from 2005 to 2012, is the upgraded version of the popular Learjet 40 light jet and expands upon its predecessor’s impeccable performance. In terms of speed, range, and interior space, The 40XR already outperforms much of its light-jet competition. The business jet also delivers an impressive list of enhancements, including a faster climb speed, a shorter estimated time en route, and better performance in “hot and high” conditions. This aircraft expands upon the legendary Learjet high-performance models, delivering all the benefits you and your business need to move forward into the future.

LEarjet 40XR Features

Interior

The Learjet 40XR has one of the sleekest and most relaxing interiors among super light jets. It essentially utilizes the same cabin as the larger Learjet 45, losing two feet in length, ditching two seats, and upgrading certain design elements like veneers and plating. Featuring a volume of 363 cubic feet, the cabin can accommodate six passengers comfortably and measures 5.1 feet wide, 4.9 feet tall, and 17.7 feet long. Four seats are arranged in a club configuration, with two additional forward-facing seats in the rear of the cabin. The seats can slide and swivel and have adjustable armrests for maximum comfort, and passengers can stay productive in the air thanks to work tables that fold out from the cabin walls.

A forward closet and refreshment center are included opposite the main entry door, and a fully-enclosed lavatory with a large sink is located in the rear cabin. Passengers can utilize 15 cubic feet of storage space during flight, with an additional 50 cubic feet of external baggage space.

Performance

The performance of the Learjet 40XR has proven to be up to par with the rest of the capabilities offered by Bombardier business jets. The aircraft is powered by dual Honeywell TFE731-20BR engines, each producing 3,500 lbs. of thrust. These powerful engines propel the 40XR to a high cruise speed of 521 mph, while allowing it to travel 1,617 nautical miles under NBAA IFR with full passengers. This allows the jet to handle legs like Chicago to San Francisco or Singapore to Hong Kong; Business Jet Traveler reports that it can fly from Jackson Hole, Wyoming to Teterboro, New Jersey in just three hours and 39 minutes. Even with the increased performance, the 40XR remains economical and fuel efficient—it uses only around 212 gallons of fuel per hour and utilizes aerodynamic winglets that help reduce drag while also increasing stability.

Passengers will experience a seamless and speedy journey when traveling on the Learjet 40XR. One of the areas the jet improves upon its predecessors is in its “hot and high” performance; It can take off from 5,090 feet of runway at high altitudes, while only requiring 4,680 feet at sea level and landing in just 2,700 feet. The total time it takes the 40XR to climb to 43,000 feet is only 23 minutes. A surface ceiling of 51,000 feet allows the jet to avoid poor weather conditions and most other air traffic.

Avionics

Bombardier designed the cockpit setup of the 40XR to have an extremely extremely pilot-friendly layout, with information displayed across four eight-by-seven-inch cathode-ray tube screens. The Honeywell Primus 1000 avionics suite provides pilots with ample information to help them safely navigate through the air.
