Citation CJ3 Features
Interior
The interior of the Cessna Citation Jet 3 is comparable in size to similar jets its class, and can accommodate six passengers comfortably. It measures 15.6 feet long (two feet longer than the CJ2’s cabin), 4.8 feet high, and 4.8 feet wide, with a total volume of 283 cubic feet. Additionally, the aircraft offers passengers 65 cubic feet of exterior storage.
A multitude of amenities enhance passengers’ experience aboard the CJ3. A fully enclosed lavatory provides comfort and privacy, and a minibar with icebox keeps drinks and food cool and conveniently accessible. The seats carry passengers in reclining, single executive leather seats; the first four are in a club-four layout, with the remaining two facing forward in the rear of the cabin. Two folding work tables, multiple 110-volt AC outlets, and noise-dampening technology allow passengers to be productive in the air. A total of fourteen windows and an abundance of LED lighting allow for the opportunity to work in a well-lit space.
Performance
The Cessna Citation Jet 3 is one of the most economical in the light-jet class, burning an average of 150 gallons of fuel per hour. The business jet has an increased maximum payload due to its extremely fuel-efficient design, allowing it to carry more fuel than it’s predecessor, the CJ2. The CJ3 has a maximum take-off weight of 13,870 pounds, including 4,710 pounds of fuel. Twin Williams/Rolls-Royce FJ44-3A turbofan engines power the jet, each producing 2,780 pounds of thrust. Those engines are capable of speeds of up to 479 mph and push the jet to climb to 45,000 feet in just over 27 minutes.
With a superior range of 1,740 nautical miles when carrying four passengers, the CJ3 can complete trips from New York City to Miami or Aspen to Las Vegas seamlessly and with zero stops along the way. Thanks to the Citation series’ elite runway capabilities—at sea level, the CJ3 can take off in just 3,180 feet and land in 2,411 feet—this aircraft can access smaller and more remote airfields, giving travelers a larger variety of landing destinations to choose from.
