The Gulfstream G450, a continuation of the renowned GIV series, offers seamless and efficient long-distance travel with a touch of elegance. The aircraft was designed with business productivity in mind, and passengers will find plenty of amenities in the cabin to make you feel like you have never left the office. There’s a reason this heavy jet, first introduced in 2005, has won multiple “Best of the Best” awards from Robb Report over the years—private fliers love that the G450 allows them to fly further and more comfortably. Gulfstream ended production of the fantastically successful G450 in 2018 to make way for their new, fly-by-wire G500.
GULFSTREAM G450 FEATURES
INTERIOR
Space is the hallmark of Gulfstream G450’s cabin, which boasts a large and luxurious design. With an interior volume of 1,525 cubic feet, this cabin is one of the largest in its field. It measures 45.1 feet in length (a foot and a half longer than that of the G-III), 7.3 feet in width, and 6.2 feet in height, giving passengers more than enough room to walk around and stretch their legs at their convenience while up in the air. There’s enough space on board for three separate living areas and two lavatories. As for storage, the jet’s 169 cubic feet of luggage space is fully accessible during flight. Twelve signature Gulfstream windows let in an abundance of natural light, and overhead lights and temperature controls are adjustable at multiple spots throughout the aircraft at the passengers’ convenience.
The G450 offers its passengers a variety of amenities designed to maximize comfort and productivity during flights. The interior is equipped with a full-sized galley, a microwave, an oven, a sink with both hot and cold water, cold storage, and an espresso and coffee maker. long with a seven-channel satellite communication system consisting of a satellite phone, Wi-Fi, printer, and fax, the G450 will always keep you connected and ready for your next meeting. There are individual power outlets, LED screens, and worktables present for passenger use in the cabin, and advanced noise suppression ensures a near-silent cabin to ensure focus will not be interrupted. With a cabin pressure of 9.5 psi, the G450 maintains a sea-level cabin up to 22,000 feet. Additionally, a state-of-the-art system pumps 100%-fresh air through the cabin every two minutes, raising passengers’ alertness and reducing their fatigue upon landing.
Performance
The G450 is powered by twin Rolls-Royce Tay Mk 611-8C engines, each producing 13,850 lbs of thrust. By utilizing Rolls-Royce engines, the aircraft can take off in just 5,450 feet at sea level and reach an altitude of 41,000 feet in as little as 23 minutes. With a range of nearly 4,350 nautical miles when flying with 8 passengers and NBAA IFR reserves, this heavy jet can handle lengthy trips like Tokyo to Seattle, Teterboro to Moscow, or New York to Sao Paulo, and do so at a high-cruise speed of 548 mph. That’s why private fliers rely on the G450 when their business mission calls for efficient intercontinental travel.
Various aerodynamic improvements have also been made to the business jet from previous models. By implementing a new wing design, Gulfstream was able to reduce drag, increase stability, and save fuel. Using this wing design upgrade, the business jet can carry 29,500 lbs. of extra fuel, enabling it to travel further distances abroad.
