The Masters rank as one of the most popular private jet destinations in the world every year. 1. A Tradition Unlike Any Other….Well, Not For Arnold Palmer
For almost a decade, we have watched The King of Golf hit the ceremonial first tee shot to kick off The Masters. Palmer announced Tuesday he won’t be bringing his club to the tee box this year to join his counterparts in “The Big Three” of golf, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player. The man who holds the record with 50 consecutive appearances in The Masters will not be taking a swing this year at Augusta.
2. Will There Be a Tiger Woods Sighting?
Not likely. There has been much speculation about Woods’ health the past year, but with most of it being negative, it doesn’t appear The Masters is where the return will come. The game of golf would love to see the once beloved sports icon out there dominating the event he rose to prominence in almost 20 years ago, but we may have to wait a little longer.
3. Initial Betting Odds
For many of the luxury travelers chartering a flight into Augusta, the excitement of betting on The Masters can sometimes outweigh the event itself. As expected, last year’s champion Jordan Spieth opened up as the favorite followed by his fellow young gun Rory Mcllroy. Mcllroy came to the 2015 Masters as the favorite with pressure from his great year in 2014. Will Spieth be able to repeat as champion or suffer a similar fate and fall short like Mcllroy?
4. Round One
Although most of the excitement in the race for the green jacket comes over the weekend, it’s important to keep a very close eye on Round 1. According to Kyle Porter of CBS Sports, in the last ten years, the average winner has shot roughly a 68 in the first round. A tough stretch on day 1 shooting into the 70’s can really hurt your chances of putting on the green jacket on Sunday.
5. The Golf Before the Golf
Since 1960 on Wednesday of Masters Week, tournament participants, non-competing past champions and honorary Invitees are invited to participate in the Par 3 course. No Master’s winner has ever won the Green Jacket on the same year he won the Par 3, but with an astounding 5 hole-in-ones and 80 in total, it makes for some exciting golf leading up to the tournament.
