1. Purpose of the Insurance

This insurance is designed to protect you from incurring additional costs due to mechanical issues with your originally scheduled aircraft. In the event of such a mechanical failure, we will coordinate a replacement aircraft of similar class and performance. If the replacement aircraft results in a higher cost, your insurance will cover the incremental cost of the recovery up to 50% of your original invoice.

2. Covered Events

This policy covers mechanical failures that render the scheduled aircraft inoperable or unsafe to fly, including but not limited to:

  • Engine malfunction
  • Avionics failure
  • Structural or control surface faults
  • Mechanical system breakdowns (e.g., landing gear, fuel systems)

3. Coverage Scope

  • This insurance is purchased specifically and solely for the single charter trip identified in the client’s booking confirmation. It is non-transferable and non-renewable.
  • The insurance applies on trips within the lower 48 contiguous states on non-Advanced Booking dates.
  • The insurance only applies to mechanical issues identified by the operating carrier’s maintenance team and verified by Magellan Jets.
  • Will cover the incremental cost of the recovery aircraft up to 50% of your original invoice
  • This policy does not cover mechanical delays that do not result in aircraft substitution (e.g., minor maintenance, late arrival, or extended preflight checks).

4. Premium Cost

  • The cost of the insurance is 2.5% of the total charter trip price.
  • The insurance must be purchased at the time of booking and paid in full to be valid.

5. Exclusions

This policy does not cover:

  • Delays or cancellations due to weather, air traffic control, crew duty time, or airport closures
  • Client-initiated changes or cancellations
  • Government-imposed travel restrictions or emergencies
  • Any charter that is not brokered and arranged through Magellan Jets

6. Claims Process

In the event of a covered mechanical failure:

  1. Magellan Jets will notify the client immediately.
  2. Magellan Jets will source and quote a replacement aircraft.
  3. If the client accepts the replacement, the insurance will cover the cost difference directly.
  4. No reimbursement action is required from the client unless optional services are added beyond the original itinerary.

7. Limitations and Liabilities

  • This policy does not guarantee aircraft availability. It only ensures that if a more expensive replacement is required, the insured will not bear the entire cost difference.
  • Magellan Jets’ liability under this insurance is strictly limited to the replacement cost difference.
  • Magellan Jets is not liable for consequential losses such as missed events, hotel bookings, or loss of business.

8. Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of Massachusetts in which Magellan Jets is headquartered, without regard to conflict of law principles.

9. Policy Modifications

Magellan Jets reserves the right to update or modify this policy with reasonable notice, which will not affect insurance already purchased prior to the modification date.

10. Payment Terms

  • The insurance premium must be paid in full at the time of booking the associated charter trip to activate coverage.
  • Accepted payment methods include:
    • Wire Transfer: No additional fees apply. Banking details will be provided once this agreement has been signed.
