As of yesterday September 3rd, 2018 the seventh cyclone of this season has begun to develop into a much larger tropical storm.
The storm, which has now been named Hurricane Gordon, will effect most of Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and parts of the Bahamas. Heavy rainfall, winds, power outages and flooding will affect portions of the Gulf Coast over the next few days.
The storm has brought Air Traffic Control delays along with re-routings at airports. Issues with ground transportation and shortages at FBO’s have also begun to become a problem in some areas. Voluntary evacuations have been ordered to many states but there hasn’t been a significant influx of traffic or evacuations thus far.
Gordon is currently about 190 miles southeast of the Mississippi River and has steady winds of 60 mph. It has been forecast to strengthen over the next day and could possibly become a category 1 hurricane.
