In line with the rest of the aviation industry, Magellan Jets saw major changes, developments, and instances of progress over the course of 2019. From new jet memberships that better serve the needs of customers to fleets of advanced new aircraft launched into the skies, 2019 was a year of major leaps forward for private travelers. In this article, we’ll review the year 2019 in private aviation, taking a look at highlights and advancements both here in our offices and around the world.
Innovative New Aircraft Unveiled at 2019 NBAA-BACE
At the 2019 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas, Nevada, business travelers, private aviation enthusiasts, and other industry leaders were enthused to witness the unveiling of the next generation of aircraft, such as the Gulfstream G700.
The NBAA shares, “On the show floor, an inaugural New Product Showcase introduced 11 new, distinctive products from a host of innovative companies. Inside the convention center and at Henderson Executive Airport, nearly 100 of the latest business aircraft were on display. Also at the airport, Gulfstream unveiled its new G700, Bombardier displayed its Learjet 75 Liberty mockup for the first time and Textron Aviation’s newly certified Citation Longitude was on hand. Pilatus introduced the NGX, and other aircraft, including Tecnam’s P2012 Traveller, made their first appearances at NBAA-BACE.”
The 2020 NBAA-BACE is scheduled for October 6-8, 2020, in Orlando, Florida.
Embraer signs billion-dollar deal with Flexjet
Another bit of excitement announced at the 2019 NBAA-BACE was Flexjet’s purchase of a $1.4 billion fleet of Embraer business jets, including Praetor jets and the Phenom 300. Deliveries were expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2019.
A release published by Embraer stated, “With this purchase agreement, Flexjet becomes Embraer’s Praetor Fleet Launch Customer. … The partnership between Embraer and Flexjet dates back to 2003, when Flight Options, which merged with Flexjet in 2015, became the first fractional ownership program to introduce the Legacy Executive jet into its fleet.”
Football Star Julian Edelman Flies Magellan Jets
Early in 2019, Magellan Jets was fortunate to have Julian Edelman charter a flight. The Boston Globe covered the story: “Last year, an injured Edelman chartered through Magellan for his flight to the Super Bowl in Minneapolis. The company waived the $28,000 round-trip fare as a goodwill gesture (this year he joined the team on AirKraft). But if you want to fly like Edelman to this year’s Super Bowl in Atlanta, all you’ll need is $20,000 for the round-trip flight. You can offset the cost if you have six friends willing to split the bill.”
Magellan Jets Launched Elevate Membership Program
A milestone event in 2019 was the release of the Magellan Jets Membership program, Elevate, which simplifies flying private by providing access to aircraft whenever and however our customers need it. The focus of Elevate is a hassle-free, seamless experience that allows travelers to maximize their time and productivity.
Launched in May, Elevate quickly gained some impressive media attention: we were honored to see the program featured by Elite Traveler, Business Jet Traveler, Fortune, Entrepreneur, and Bloomberg Business Week. Each outlet emphasized the benefits of an Elevate membership from Magellan Jets.
For example, the article in Elite Traveler reads, “Boston-based private aviation company Magellan Jets announced today its new risk-free membership program, Elevate. Since the company’s founding in 2008, Magellan Jets has been a leader in jet-specific memberships and on-demand charter services with a strong focus to make private flying as easy as possible. Now, the new program focuses on risk-free satisfaction 365 days per year.”
