Changes to Slot Reservations at Toronto Pearson

The Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) is instituting a slot reservation system at Toronto Pearson International Airport (CYYZ) beginning on March 26th, 2017 that will extend indefinitely. The slot reservation system will apply to all business and general aviation operations, applying to most Magellan Jets flights.

Operators will be required to obtain slot arrival and departure permissions from the Airport Reservation Office (ARO) at least 48 hours prior to arrivals or departures between the hours of 6:30AM EST and 12:30AM EST. Slots will be awarded on a first come first serve basis and slot reservations will extend +/- 1 hour from the planned departure or arrival.

There will also be more restrictive access to CYYZ from March 28th through May 16th and again from October 10th through November 3rd due to a planned runway rehabilitation program for runway 05/23. During this time, there will be no arrival slots made available between 3:00PM EST and 8:00PM EST though departure slots will be made available.

The only exceptions to these slot permission requirements will be:

-Medevac operations

-Heads of State

-Helicopter operations

-Police/Military operations

-Sports Charters

Additionally, there is a Night Flight Restriction program in effect for CYYZ in which explicit permission must be granted for any departures or arrivals between the hours of 12:30AM and 6:30AM local time. This program has been in effect and will not change regardless of the slot permission program.
