What It Means to Really Think Outside the Box Navigating the Skies: Understanding Private Aviation Slot Scheduling and EDCTs

As Labor Day weekend brings summer to a close, many organizations and private jet travelers are now focused on their plans for the final quarter of 2020. It’s hard to believe that the last few months are already upon us, and after all that’s happened, I’m sure most folks are ready to say goodbye to this rollercoaster of a year.

While we navigate this ever-changing landscape amid the pandemic, we must remember that our ability to adapt and think outside the box will continue to play a crucial role in how we deal with living and doing business under this new normal. Looking back on all that we’ve accomplished already, I’m proud of the work we’ve done as a team to cultivate a safe environment for all of our colleagues and guests as part of our return to office plans. Additionally, I’m equally as proud of the tireless efforts by the entire Magellan Jets organization to ensure the highest level of safety and service excellence with every flight experience, especially as we successfully unveiled our latest solutions for life and technological innovations.

Heading into the end of 2020, I hope similar sparks of ingenuity will help reinvigorate our office culture and camaraderie among colleagues. As we look to the calendar, I know a lot of outside the box thinking will be required to plan this year’s holiday parties, especially since going out to share a big dinner with several dozen members of the Magellan Jets family along with their spouses just isn’t practical in the age of COVID-19. How we handle these get-togethers must take health and safety into consideration, while still providing experiences that facilitate friendship between peers, builds community and makes memories. That may mean utilizing outdoor venues or activities like golfing to ensure safe social distancing.

Overall, we cannot forget the importance of of face-to-face interactions, whether it’s for celebrating a holiday or doing business. For corporate travelers, they need to think outside the box in order to get business deals done and maintain important relationships by doing same-day travel for meetings and using private aviation to mitigate exposure risks.

If these in-person events or meetings need a little extra planning, it’s all worth it in the end to maintain those special relationships and safely get business done.

MONTH IN REVIEW

As I mentioned in last month’s letter, we couldn’t be more excited about the newest additions to our technology team. Their wealth of knowledge and experience is already being felt as we continually enhance our digital offerings, including our recently launched mobile app, built exclusively for Magellan Jets guests. Be on the look out for even more developments on the technology front as we head into the end of the year.

As an industry, the world of private aviation continues to see positive trends. In August, we saw solid economic indicators, including the stock market hitting all-time highs, falling unemployment, as well as COVID-19 hotspots like California and Florida starting to manage their spreads. Although the private jet industry as a whole is operating at 80-85% of 2019 volumes, we expect to see volume continue to increase as we head into a busy holiday travel season.

Speaking of which, we encourage private jet travelers to explore our CARES Act tax holiday guide to learn more about how they can save on all of their travel through the end of 2020 and beyond. As we’ve looked into these benefits over the past month, I’ve become more and more astounded by how much of an unprecedented opportunity this is for organizations that rely on air travel to get business done. By making the smart investment into your travel now, companies can reap the reward of the 7.5% federal excise tax exemption on all private jet travel booked by Dec. 31, 2020. This also includes any jet card or membership purchases made by the end of the year, even if you don’t use those hours until 2021 or later.

For organizations that live by a corporate responsibility mantra, there couldn’t be a better time to invest into the safety of their employees and business partners by securing a private aviation solution. The combination of the CARES Act benefits along with Magellan Jets suite of solutions means it’s easier than ever for companies to risk-proof their operations and plan their budgets while preparing for uncertainty in months and years to come.

A LOOK AHEAD

Heading into the final few months of the year, make sure you start planning ahead of time for all of your upcoming travel. With commercial routes and options limited due to the pandemic, as well as the typical increase in volume leading up to the holidays, now is definitely the time to make sure you have private jet solutions in place.

Whether you’re planning some family quality time or need safe spaces for business meeting, Magellan Jets’ team of experts is here to help so you never have to worry about a thing. We are also expanding our network of trusted collaborators to further provide exceptional experiences to all our guests.

With fall upon us, we recommend checking out the great outdoors of Montana, which offers both incredible natural wonders and a host of luxury accommodations that are perfect for private jet travelers. If you need more fall travel inspiration, read our guide on the top places to enjoy the changing colors, or give us a call if you need assistance arranging safe and sanitized meeting spaces.

Regardless of what the next few months hold, I know that we all can get through this together, making memories and keeping business moving forward.
