As a continuation of the famed Gulfstream family, the Gulfstream G650 is capable of seamless, luxurious travel between international destinations without the need to stop anywhere along the way. It famously set a record for the farthest, fastest flight in business aviation history, circling the globe in just 41 hours and 7 minutes back in 2013. Improving upon its predecessor, the renowned Gulfstream G550, the G650 offers an upgraded and more spacious cabin as well as enhancements to both speed and range. Passengers and crew alike will experience worry-free and speedy travel, while a surplus of amenities provide optimal comfort and entertainment while up in the air.
Gulfstream G650 Features
Interior
The Gulfstream G650 boasts the largest cabin in its class, and can accommodate 13 passengers comfortably. With a height of 6.4 feet, a length of 53.7 feet, a width of 8.2 feet, and a total volume of 2,138 cubic feet, the interior of the aircraft is more spacious than its predecessor and allows those on board to walk around and stretch their legs at their convenience. The cabin can be split into three different living areas, and passengers enjoy a total of 195 cubic feet of interior storage—11 percent more storage space than the G550—all of which is accessible during flight.
The cabin design of the G650 focuses on productivity and comfort. This aircraft has one of the quietest cabins among its class, generating just 47 decibels of noise. Rather than using fans to recirculate air throughout the business jet, the Gulfstream G650 pumps 100-percent fresh air from start to finish, allowing passengers experience less fatigue and jet lag upon arrival at their destination. The G650 also claims the lowest cabin altitude of any business jet, with a cabin altitude of 4,850 feet at its 51,000-foot ceiling. Sixteen oval windows allow for natural light to flood throughout the cabin and provide those aboard with beautiful views of the world below.
Furthermore, the aircraft is equipped with individual power outlets for each passenger, an in-flight cabin entertainment system, individual LCD video monitors, a full refreshment center including a refrigerator and freezer, a fully enclosed aft lavatory, and a real-time flight tracking system. All hand-crafted seats can be turned into beds, providing passengers with the opportunity to lay down and relax in flight.
Performance
The G650 can fly to international and transcontinental destinations with ease, completing trips from Los Angeles to Sydney or New York to Tokyo seamlessly. While carrying eight passengers, four crew, and NBAA IFR reserves, the jet has a sensational maximum range of 7,000 nautical miles. Twin Rolls-Royce BR725 engines, which generate 16,900 pounds of thrust each, power it to a high-speed cruise of mach .90, or about 690 mph—it was once the fastest business jet on the planet, before the Citation X+ took its place. With a maximum cruise altitude of 51,000 feet, the business jet can soar comfortably above other air traffic and dangerous weather conditions while increasing reliability and stability.
A maximum takeoff weight of 99,600 lbs allows the aircraft to store 44,200 lbs. of fuel. This ensures that the aircraft will be able to travel to long-leg destinations without having to stop along the way. A new wing design allows for that increased fuel storage, and the simple, swept design and improved winglets introduce greater efficiency in flight.
