POSITION OVERVIEW*
The Aviation Sourcing Consultant’s primary function is to secure aircraft for Magellan Jets Membership and Charter clients. This is done by communicating with plane operators to receive quotes, negotiating prices, vetting for all safety standards to be met, and ultimately selecting the best aircraft for the client mission. Adhering to established processes, procedures, and delivering options in a timely manner are key to the role. Secondly, he/she will work directly with their Team Lead and Sales staff to meet or exceed gross profit margins. Developing relationships, scheduling efficiently, matching up trip legs, selling empty legs, and mitigating cancellation costs are all drivers to increase GP(Gross Profit). Lastly, the Aviation Sourcing Consultant must coordinate with other departments (Flight Support, Sales, Accounting) to troubleshoot problems and refine current processes as seen fit. Active participation in Sourcing meetings and other cross departmental meetings (e.g. Quality Reviews) is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Sales and Flight Support Teams to find aircraft suitable for the client trip, make recommendations based on the market, and support booking of selected aircraft
- Source and book aircraft for both Member and Charter flight requests
- Negotiate rates/quotes with operators (one offs or bulk buying, fixed rates, etc.)
- Optimize lines of flying to reduce empty legs; matchup trips
- Identify/negotiate owned empty legs and escalate to Team Lead
- Log and manage client preferences; ensure client preferences are accounted for when sourcing options
- Ensure Data within CRM system is up to date and thorough
- Prioritize trip urgencies to ensure timely deliveries (i.e. proactive sourcing during busier flight seasons)
- Make sure all crews and aircraft presented to clients meet Magellan Jets safety standards
- Communicate all potential problems to Team lead and appropriate other personnel
- Balance the trip experience with strong GP margins for Magellan Jets
- Develop an understanding of aircraft categories per membership jet card types
- Be responsibly available during on-call hours
- Meet and exceed quarterly scorecard metrics and "rocks"
- Stays up-to-date with new products and aircraft features
- Serve as subject matter expert internally and for our operator network
- Explore operator partnerships and vet new supply opportunities
- Review operator contracts to ensure selected option(s) meets Magellan’s safety and quality standards
