WHEN DOES THE INDIANAPOLIS 500 TAKE PLACE?
This year, the Indy 500 will be run on Sunday, May 28 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Gates will open at 6 a.m., with festivities and ceremonies starting at 9 a.m. and continuing to the official start of the race at 12:45 p.m. A full schedule of race day events can be found here. On Saturday, May 27, the day before the race, Speedway gates will open at 8 a.m. for Legends Day, when all 33 qualifying starters will gather for final race instructions in a meeting on pit lane that is open to the public.
